Title 1
This school year I will be teaching Title 1 in the lower elementary. In the mornings I will be team teaching with the K-2 teachers and in the afternoon I have many challenging and exciting centers planned to stimulate reading, writing, and mathematics.
Reading is a skill that we all use every day. Below are some tips you can use to help your child become a better reader:
*Read aloud to your child.
* Have your child read aloud to you.
*Have your child choose a book. You and your child will read the same chapter/section of the book silently. When you are finished discuss what happened in the chapter/section together.
* Have your child read instructions/directions/recipes to you as you complete a job or project together.
* Let your child see you reading for enjoyment.
The more your child interacts with print, and the more your child sees you as a happy, successful reader, the better reader your child will become.
Your child and your child’s success are important to me. I would love to discuss your child’s needs and/or progress with you as well as getting input from you concerning your observations of your child’s needs.
Reading, writing, and math are core subjects that each child will use for the rest of his/her life and together we can work to create an atmosphere of instruction at home and at school that will help to insure your child’s success.
A bit about me:
This past summer my husband, Jeremy, and I moved to Hamilton to be closer to our families. We had our first child August 27th, Cally Jayne, and she is the center of our lives. I am enjoying motherhood to the fullest extent. I graduated from Western Illinois University with a BA in education. When I am not at school or working on school related tasks, I love to spend time with family and friends. Riding my bike, walking, and reading are also some of my hobbies.
I look forward to our year together.
