Physical Education
Dallas City Elementary has been my home away from home for the last 20 years. I began my teaching career for the Dallas City Community Unit District as a fourth grade teacher in 1989. I took a long term sub poition for a teacher on leave of absence. In the past twenty years I have taught at both the fourth and fifth grade levels. I also taught kindergarten and a multi-age classroom of kindergarten and first grade children. For the last two years I have been teaching Physical Education to students in Pre-K through eighth grade.
I graduated from Western Illinois University in 1971 with a comprehensive major in Physical Education. I taught at the St. Mary's Catholic Girl's School and Saints Peter and Paul Grade School in Nauvoo, Illinois for 3 years. For the next fifteen years I did substitute teaching in many school districts in Hancock County. It was during this time that I formatted the picture of the teacher I wanted to be. In 1990 I returned to Western Illinois University and received my General Education Degree. I love teaching and enjoy what I do each day.
Besides my husband Tom and our dog Neiko, I have 3 children; Karie Mathena, Kelly (Matt) LeMaire and Kade (Stacie) Harl. I have 2 step daughters Deena Dunkin and Margo (Bob) Campbell. I have eight grandchildren; Josh and Lauren Campbell, Tanner and Colton Dunkin, Colin LeMaire, Karlee Mathena and Keaton and Kennedy Harl. I am truly a "Blessed" person.
